About Alex
Alex is an award-nominated documentary filmmaker, with a passion for premium documentaries that explore how culture, history and politics shape the world around us.
He’s produced and directed films across five continents, from Tahiti to Senegal, Romania to the USA, Lithuania to Ethiopia. With a reputation as a strong writer, he enjoys crafting his films through the edit.
He is currently at Passion Pictures, producing his first major feature documentary - The Salisbury Poisonings: A Spy Next Door which is due to have its World Premiere at the prestigious CPH:DOX festival in Copenhagen in Macrh 2026, before airing on CNN, and other global streamers. He also developed this film.
Before that he directed several critically acclaimed films and series, including: a history series about the British penal system, Britain Behind Bars: A Secret History, which was nominated for an RTS award; an arts travelogue series Africa Rising with Afua Hirsch; a biographical documentary about Bruce Lee Bruce Lee: A Life In Ten Pictures; a landmark history series about mankind’s changing relationship with nature Nature and Us: A History Through Art; and an art history series about African culture African Renaissance: When Art Meets Power which was nominated for RTS and Broadcast awards.
As well as directing, Alex also works as a Development Executive and Head of Development, with a successful track record of commissions for all major streamers and broadcasters.
